The St Michaels Centre (formerly Townmead Youth Club) is an exciting new St Matthews initiative to work with the young people of Sands End, in partnership with Christ Church.
As well as provisioning a safe haven for local young people The Centre has many other uses and is available for hire. It's sports hall is marked out for badminton, basketball and 5-a-side football. It could also be used for social functions and events.
St Michaels was built to the 'glory of God' as a chapel-of-ease in the 1890's by St Mathews parish and originally housed a separate worshipping congregation. In the 1960's under the leadership of a former vicar Michael Botting, the building was re-ordered as a youth club for local young people. It has served generations of local people in Sands End.
Townmead Road. St Michaels is directly opposite the Chelsea Harbour Club.
Whilst St Matthews has always been partly involved in its running over the years, the building is currently being formerly handed back to the church from the dedicated members of a retiring Committee whose tireless work has been made all the more difficult by local government cuts and funding issues.

St Matthews is relishing the opportunity to provide on-going youth work to local young people along with its partner Christ Church Fulham.
